The Altes Museum in Berlin, Germany was used for the exterior shots of the Academy building in The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes. Even without VFX, the building is still very recognizable and impressive. The interior of the Academy was filmed in other locations. I’ll be posting about those soon. Unfortunately, the scenes of the Heavensbee Hall were filmed at the Altes Stadthaus in Berlin, which isn’t accessible to the public.

This is the location where they filmed the scene with Dean Casca Highbottom and Coriolanus Snow talking outside the Academy cafeteria in The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes. It was shot at the Sport School of the Olympic Park in Berlin, Germany. It’s absolutely crazy that they left the academy stickers on the building doors even a year after filming wrapped. It made the tour of the filming location so much more immersive. I felt like I was actually in Panem. 🥰✨

The Reaping scene in District 12 was filmed in Germany, at Landschaftspark Nord in Duisburg for The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes. Once again, the location choice was perfect for the movie. That abandoned mining area was the perfect place for District 12. It was gorgeous. On one slide, you can even still spot a trace of the District 12 logo that was painted on a wall last year for filming 👀

This spot is on Karl Marx Allee in Berlin, Germany. The location is pretty immersive and impressive even without the CGI! I was so happy to be able to visit it 🥰❤️

I’m thrilled to finally show you the pictures from my favorite stop on my tour of The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes filming locations in Germany. The Veterinary Anatomy Theater in Berlin was used as a set for the classroom scenes at the Academy. This includes the debate scene between Dr. Gaul, Coriolanus, Dean Casca Highbottom, and Sejanus, as well as the final scene where Coriolanus Snow visits Dean Casca Highbottom after returning from District 12. It was an amazing experience visiting this place, and I can’t wait to go back again! 🥹💞

The Kuppelsaal’s spherical shape made it an ideal location for these scenes, it was great to visit this beautiful filming location even if it is quite different without the stage and all the props.
