Derry City, County Londonderry, Northern Ireland (by Jocey K on Flickr)
Bridge over the River Foyle in Londonderry. Still known as "Stroke City" - it was simply Derry before the siege of 1689, & because of the courage of the young apprentice boys of the London Guilds who managed to close all the gates in the city's walls, before the invading forces, before the impending siege, was awarded the prefix London. To this day still bitching over the name, hence continually referred to as Derry stroke Londonderry, depending on religious or political leanings.
