Johanna Maria Magdalena "Magda" Goebbels, wife of Dr Paul Joseph Goebbels, Germany's Reich Minister of Propaganda from 1933 to 1945. After the Soviet Red Army entered Berlin, she was offered to have her children (Helga, Hilde, Helmut, Holde, Hedda and Heide) escape the bunker. She refused. "I would rather have my children die, than live in disgrace, jeered at". She drugged them with morphine and then killed them by cyanide. She and Joseph Goebbels then committed suicide.
In the afternoon, Goebbels and his wife (after killing their children) committed suicide.Goebbels's death removed the last impediment which prevented Weidling from accepting the terms of unconditional surrender of his garrison, but he chose to delay the surrender until the next morning to allow the planned breakout to take place under the cover of darkness.
Helene Bertha Amalie "Leni" Riefenstahl (1902–2003) was a German film director, photographer, actress and dancer widely known for directing the Nazi Party propaganda film Triumph of the Will. Riefenstahl’s prominence in the Third Reich, along with her personal association with Adolf Hitler, destroyed her film career following Germany's defeat in World War II. However, she remained active in photography until her death at age 101. Source: Wikipedia

"Long live freedom!" -- Hans Scholl's last words before he, his sister Sophie Scholl, and the rest of the White Rose resistence were executed in Nazi Germany.
Marie-Claude Vaillant-Couturier (1912-1996) was a member of the resistance until 1942 when she was arrested, and sent first to Birkenau on 24 Jan 1943, then Ravensbruck. Marie-Claude remained at Ravensbruck even after the war, caring for the sick until the last POW left. Her powerful testimony at Nuremberg was devastating to the defence. Afterward, she slowly walked past the Nazis, looked each one in the eye, effectively unnerving them. Most bowed their heads; others, unrepentant, did not.

Hans-Adolf Prützmann (1901-1945) was an SS and Police Leader and a Waffen-SS-Obergruppenführer. He was a senior Nazi in the administration of Latvia following the German conquest of that country in 1941, and was involved in carrying out the Holocaust in the Baltic States. After the war, Prützmann was arrested as a war criminal and committed suicide while in custody. His remorseless, cold eyes in this 1934 photograph are chilling.
