A Japanese craftsman is making carp streamers called “Koinobori (こいのぼり)”, in preparation for the upcoming Tango no Sekku (端午の節句), a national holiday as Children’s Day on May 5. Landscapes across Japan will be decorated with koinobori from April to early May.
Lotus Lantern Parade - The streets of Seoul come alive during the annual Lotus Lantern festival, which celebrates the birth of Buddha. One of the festival's highlights is the Lantern Parade, which marches from Insa-dong to Jogyesa Temple. Spectators wonder in awe at the brilliant sight of lights from the countless handheld lanterns and the grand ornate lantern floats. The 2013 Lotus Lantern Festival will take place from Friday May 10th to Sunday May 12th and is not to be missed.
