Queen Noor of Jordan was born Elizabeth (Lisa) Najeeb Halaby in Washington, D.C. Her father was an aviator, airline executive, and gov't. official. He served as Deputy Asst. Sec.of Defense in the Truman Admin. before being appointed by John F. Kennedy to head the Federal Aviation Admin. She is of Syrian, English and Swedish descent.
