THE ROMANOVS JEWELRY -- The first piece of jewelry which Empress Maria Alexandrovna, grandmother of Nikolay II, has received was a small brooch. It was set with a magnificent and rare green diamond of about 22,50 ct. It was a beautiful antique Indian stone, which had some minor spots, but this subject is not relevant in consideration of its fascinating green colour and outstanding beauty. The setting had an engraving on its back: “16. April 1841” – the day of her wedding.
