* Loin Cloth, Waiwai, Guyana, Brazil, South America. Loin Cloths are made of tiny tururri seeds painstakingly strung and woven together to produce a beautifully textured garment. It is worn around the waist, ties in the back and is trimmed with feather danglers. Materials: macaw feathers, porcupine quills, tururri seeds, nuts, cotton. Period: circa 1970.

This wonderful bowls was created by a bead and wire art studio based in Cape Town, South Africa. Inspired by nature and created by hand, they specialize in finely sculpted decor made from glass seed beads and galvanized wire. Established in March 2004, they are a socially conscious, job-creation project that operates in the spirit of fair trade and fair wage. Stable employment is provided for a team of twenty artists many of whom are the sole breadwinners of their families....
