Kellar and his servants, magician poster, ca. 1894

Howard Thurston (July 20, 1869 – April 13, 1936) was a stage magician from Columbus, Ohio. His childhood was unhappy and he ran away to join the circus. Thurston was deeply impressed after he attended magician Alexander Herrmann's magic show and was determined to equal his work. He eventually became the most famous magician of his time. Thurston's traveling magic show was the biggest one of all; it was so large that it needed eight train cars to transport his road show.

A very rare poster from the Theater of Robert Houdin, The Father of Modern Magic. Measures 20" x 30"

Musée de la Magie

Welcome to one of the coolest and oddest attractions in all of Paris, le Musée de la Magie! This museum is full of amazing artifacts from the history and magic and illusion: antique magicians' props and gadgets, stunning optical illusions, beautiful old posters advertising magic shows, and more, all housed in a spooky old underground chamber that looks like an old wine cellar. The Musée de la Magie is housed in the same building as the Musée des Automates — the automata museum —
