1934 Princess Marina and The Duke of Kent were wed at Westminster Abbey. Marina wowed the press & public when she alighted from her carriage at Westminster Abbey, wearing a gown that was the picture of 1930's glamour. The fabric was of shimmering silver and white brocade with a raised English rose design. jj

Princess Margaret's wedding dress was designed by Norman Hartnell, the favoured couturier of the royals and was made from silk organza, and a skirt made from some 33 yards of fabric. The skirt, flaring from the fullest point of the hips, created a very flattering line and the slightly poufed sleeves showed uncommon restraint for the times.
