The bombings left pock rice fields like this one in Xiangkhouang Province riddled with craters now often used as fishponds or for irrigating crops.  The U.S. dropped over 2 million tons of bombs on Laos during the Vietnam War this period was known in Laos and to the CIA as the Secret War.
