Major Stewart Walter Loudoun-Shand VC 10th Bn Yorkshire Rgt(8.10.1876/1.7.1916). Educated Dulwich Coll. Volunteered during Sec. Boer War 1899/1902. VC awarded for action nr. Fricourt, France, WWI on the First Day of the Somme, although mortally wounded he kept on encouraging his men until his death. He is buried in Norfolk Cemetery, Becordel-Becourt; grave ref: I. C.77

BECK, Irvine Samuel -Private Born 22 December 1897 in Sheffield, Tasmania. Son of Hebert John & Susan Beck of Cunliffe, South Australia Occupation prior to Enlistment: Farmer Enlisted 28 July, 1916, at Adelaide, South Australia; Served in France Killed in action 25th April 1918. He is remembered with honour on the Villiers-Bretonneaux Memorial and on the Roll of Honour at the Australian War Memorial.
