German Model 1915 Portable Flamethrower The early-model Kleif M.1915, which had a flexible rubber oil-outflow tube that hung in front of the carrier over his right shoulder. In addition, the pressure gauges and valve on the top of the propellant bottle were exposed. The later model of the weapon had a rigid steel oil-outflow pipe and a protective cover for the gauges sand valve of the propellant bottle. This photo was taken at Verdun in early 1916.
