German soldiers who froze to death, winter 1941. The German Army was ill prepared for the harsh Russian winter. Almost half as many Germans were killed by the winter elements as by enemy bullets!!

Three caskets, two containing the remains of WW2 Unknowns, and one containing the remains of a Korean War Unknown, are given the proper honors abroad USS Canberra. One WW2 Unknown and the Korean War Unknown were eventually interred beside their WW1 comrade, 1958.
