Royal Naval uniform: pattern 1843. Double-breasted coat of blue wool facecloth worn by Admiral George Ourry Lempriere (1787-1864) while Rear-Admiral. The sleeves are gathered at the shoulders and on each shoulder of the bodice are four eyelets for securing epaulettes. The sleeves terminate in a mariner’s cuff. The slash is of blue wool edged with gold lace and has three small gilt brass buttons. The cuff is of white twill wool with a wide border of gold lace.
