Dated 1856, wrought by Ann Palmer, with period stencil decorated frame
Mary Brady Childs 1787. This sampler illustrates how fading can affect a sampler's attractiveness. Often, samplers were stitched in garish, bright colors. This one has faded to gentle browns and golds, which is pleasing to us. When I reproduce a sampler, I like it to look as the sampler is NOW, with duller colors.
