A Kabuto is a helmet used with traditional Japanese armor usually worn by the samurai class.
This is a statue of Kitabatake Akiie which stands at Abeno shrine in Osaka city. Kitabatake Akiie (1318-1338) was a samurai warlord at the end of the Kamakura period to the Nanbokucho period. Akiie had been put in charge of defending the eastern territories by order of the administration of Emperor Go-daigo after the fall of the Kamakura shogunate.
