The château de Couches , or "château Marguerite de Bourgogne", dates from the thirteenth century. Queen Margaret of Burgundy, wife of Louis X le Hutin, indeed spent part of her childhood here. Divorced for adultery in 1314 in the case of the Tour de Nesle, Marguerite is imprisoned in Château-Gaillard., But tradition says was recovered in secret to the chateau de Couches
