The Rosebud egg is a jeweled enameled Easter egg made by Michael Perchin under the supervision of the Russian jeweler Peter Carl Fabergé5, for Nicholas II of Russia, who presented the egg to his wife, Empress Alexandra Fyodorovna. It was the first egg that Nicholas presented to Alexandra. The egg opens like a bonbonnière to reveal a yellow-enamelled rosebud, in which the two surprises were originally contained, a golden crown, with diamonds & rubies & cabochon ruby pendant.
Coronation Egg, 1897. Presented by Nicholas II to Czarina Alexandra Fyodorovna. Vari-colored gold, diamonds, rock cristal, platinum, off-white velvet lining. Kept in Svyaz' Vremyon Fund - Viktor Vekselberg collection - Moscow.
