Princess Victoria Eugenie of Battenberg (born on 24 October 1887) was queen consort of King Alfonso XIII of Spain. After the wedding ceremony, they were heading back to the Royal Palace when an assassination attempt was made on them. She escaped injury, although her dress was spotted with the blood of a guard. After the births of their 7 children, their relationship deteriorated, and he had numerous affairs. She died on 15 April 1969, exactly 38 years after she had left Spain for exile.
Infante Gonzalo of Spain (Gonzalo Manuel Maria Bernardo Narciso Alfonso Mauricio) (24 October 1914 – 13 August 1934) was the fourth surviving son and youngest child of King Alfonso XIII of Spain and his wife Princess Victoria Eugenie of Battenberg.
