The North Swedish Horse (Swedish: Nordsvensk) is a small heavy horse originating in Sweden. According to different sources, it is considered a light draft horse or a "universal type horse". The breed also has lighter lines, bred for harness racing. The North Swedish Horse is active and tough. It is still used for forestry work.
Poitevin horse. A draft horse from west central France. It has a calm, kind disposition and is used for driving and in equine therapy. An ancient breed, it is a handsome and relatively slender heavy horse; partially owed to Friesian blood. With all these positives it is still on the verge of extinction with a very small population with lack of genetic diversity.
Lithuanian Heavy Draft was developed in the late 19th century by crossing local Zemaitukas with imported drafts. Sources vary what the imported horses were, European drafts or Swedish Ardenners or maybe both. Swedish Ardenners have been used later in LHD's development. They are heavy, yet not very high (155-165 cm) horses. Nowadays they're close to the extinction as they are not needed for farm work. The most common colors are probably bay, chestnut and black, grays and roans may occur.
