Segrated: Rashaida live in isolated communities, preferring not to live with people of other tribes
Africa - From the age of 5 every Rashaida girls wears the burka, even at meal times, removing it only in the privacy of the family tent. Girls frequently sew small gifts of silver thread, buttons and pendants onto their veils to enhance their exotic appearance. The burka is usually restyled every 3 yrs, and by the time girls are eligible for marriage it will be impressively long and decorative.
