Rare Antique Turkish Ottoman Sword Kilij with 17th century Muslim Blade Wootz
Persian (Qajar) saif/shamshir, 1st half of the 19th century, single edged watered steel blade with ladder of the Prophet motif and two fullers, slightly flaring at the point and becoming double-edged, gold damascened floral motifs, inscribed gold medallion at the forte, 2 cartouches inscribed "amal Mihr Yusuf", straight cross-guard inscribed "ya rahman, ya karim" on each side, walrus ivory grips, with sword knot, leather scabbard with decorated suspension loops, 38¾in. (98.5cm.) long.

Algerian nimcha saber, early 18th century, steel, silver, brass, wood, tortoiseshell, mother-of-pearl, leather, textile, Length of blade, 21 in. (53.34 cm), Met Museum, Bequest of George C. Stone, 1935. This distinctly North African sword, or nimcha, probably dates from around the battle of Oran (1732), when that city, a haven for Turkish pirates, was besieged by the Spanish. The openwork leather scabbard shows Ottoman influence.
