France. WWII. A pinner says: "Several myths dominate the scant history written about the humiliation of female collaborators. That the acts were spontaneous, emotive responses to liberation is one of them. Another, is that they were entirely extra-judicial. The public humiliations lasted for over three years, occurred in waves, were planned and affected an estimated 20,000 women. Half of these women were not sexually involved with the German occupiers, but were still stigmatized"
