The Chicago River by Jeff Lewis. Named a 'Civil Engineering Monument of the Millennium' by the American Society of Civil Engineers, this river was actually TURNED AROUND! For sanitation reasons, they made the river reverse directions - instead of flowing into Lake Michigan, it drains into the Mississippi, by a series of locks. Truly remarkable!
