Pelisse, Date: ca. 1830 Culture: British Medium: silk
Pelisse circa 1814-1820, American. The Pelisse was similar to a modern coat; it was generally full length and followed the silhouette of the empire period. It was often padded with fur or other warm linings for winter. Pelisses were necessary due to the light airy dress style of the time.
