Peter Kürten (26 May 1883 – 2 July 1931) was a German serial killer dubbed The Vampire of Düsseldorf by the contemporary media. He committed a series of sexual crimes, assaults and murders against adults and children, most notoriously from February to November 1929 in Düsseldorf.
Christian fundamentalist Julia Lovemore, 41, killed her daughter Faith by stuffing her mouth with pages from The Bible then dousing her in white spirit and jumping up and down on her body. Julia Lovemore admitted manslaughter on the grounds of diminished responsibility and was detained indefinitely under the Mental Health Act.
Henri Désiré Landru (12 April 1869 – 25 February 1922) was a French serial killer and real-life "Bluebeard". Landru stood trial on 11 counts of murder in November 1921. He was convicted on all counts, sentenced to death, and guillotined three months later in Versailles.
