Just off Route 66 in Missouri, between Springfield and Carthage, is Red Oak II. The whimsical house in this photograph is fanciful indeed, with its weathered wooden shingle siding and the bright, almost TARDIS-blue trim and door. What you may not be able to see in the photo, though, is that this charming fairytale cottage is in the middle of a lake—reachable only by a drawbridge—one that is controlled from the mainland! Thus its name: The Mother-In-Law House. Make of it what you will.
Seen on Tumblr: I am completely obsessed with this Victorian cottage that this woman made out of an 9 by 14 foot hunting cabin in the Catskills. Its so white and shabby chic and whimsical without being childish, I feel like its something I created in a dreamspace. When Im mediating and have to think of my safe place, its going to be in the loft of this lil cottage. I would sell my soul to spend a night there, just so I could see the sunrise through these windows. l

MY HEART BELONGS TO BALI…
Balinese home design with water features and other Balinese details
Hard to tell if this uses an old silo as base or was inspired by silo design. I'm guessing, being on a hill as it is, that is would not have been a barn & silo site. Sure would like to know more about it, if anyone has more images or info.
