Back view, "casaquin" bodice with " Watteau" pleats, France, 1770-1780. Very rare pekin silk jacket/bodice in pale green and pink/salmon stripes on ivory silk ground. The bodice front is attached with two hooks. Elegant "polonaise" pleated at the wrists, generous folds "à la Watteau" in the upper back. This jacket is fully lined with unbleached hemp. It is partially trimmed with green silk faille ribbon.
