Evening dress, American, ca. 1925-28. Front & back panels covered w/sequins on silk tulle net. Most are black but also 3 vertical stripes of opalescent green & an insert at front neckline. This floats over dark blue silk satin. Under all, a wide fitted petersham belt holds dress firmly at hipline to blouse slightly. Below gathering are black silk tulle godets (triangle inserts) on each side seam between front & back panels. Smith College Historic Clothing
