(The last picture of Patrice Lumumba) Patrice Lumumba was executed by a firing squad. His body, which was buried on the spot, was later dug up and dissolved in acid. The bones were ground up and scattered to the winds to make sure there was nothing left of him. The colonel who deposed Lumumba, Joseph Mobutu – later Mobutu Sese Seko – would rule the country despotically until 1997. – Photo: Horst Faas, AP .. For me the background in this picture is more than a hint... Its big fun for some.

September 1947. A group of passengers from the Exodus 1947, in a DP camp in Poppendorf, Germany. The Exodus 1947 was an “illegal” immigration ship that attempted to bring Jewish survivors to Palestine in 1947, only to be turned back by the British Mandate authorities and sent to displaced persons' camps in Germany. The Exodus 1947 became a symbol of the need for free Jewish immigration to Palestine. The refugees remained in the camps until 1948, when the State of Israel was established.
