British Cromwell tanks assembled for Operation Goodwood, the attempted breakout from the D Day beachhead in July 1944. The operation was a tactical failure but a strategic success: the Germans used the bulk of their Armour in Normandy to contain it, leaving little to oppose the US Operation Cobra, which broke out a few days later.

Teddy boys. Teddy boys were english adolescents who created the first truly independent style for young people. Teddy boy style was adopted by the working class and had a somewhat Edwardian flare, but even more exaggerated. Waistcoats, turned up lapels, and narrow trousers were all characteristics of the teddy boy style.
