Elite Boar Samurai Warrior Costume
Military helmet with purple lacing and decoration in the form of a headband, worn by Hosokawa Tadatoshi (1586–1641), Japan. Edo period (1615–1868), 17th century. Iron, paper, lacquer, braided silk. Eisei-Bunko Museum.
A good heavy suji bachi Samurai helmet helmet with a strong and elegant construction, with s-shaped plates to improve the defensive capacity. The iron is well forged and each suji is folded back on itself to give a double thickness; this construction is almost unseen and resemble the so-fukurin helmets.
