TERUHA -- How She Got Her Geisha Name TERUHA by Okinawa Soba, via Flickr. Her real name was TATSUKO TAKAOKA. From age 13 through 15, as a MAIKO in both Osaka and Tokyo, she was known by the name CHIYOHA. Arriving directly from Osaka, she set foot in Tokyo for the first time on May 1911. Through a letter of introduction, she was immediately accepted by what was considered the best Geisha House in Eastern Japan at that time --- a Geisha House called SEIKA.
