Kahn & Selesnick’s Mars: Adrift on the Hourglass Sea photo series mixes Buckminster Fullerene elements and visionary fashion photography, staging ordinary situations lived by surreal characters.Kahn & Selesnick infuse their work with a blend of retro-futuristic naïveté that even appealed to NASA. The organization included one of the duo’s pictures in the book NASA/ART: 50 Years of Exploration, which celebrates its art programme. Despite echoing several heterogeneous aesthetics, Kahn & Selesnick’s Mars: Adrift on the Hourglass Sea photo series strikes as a fresh view. Not quite a story, the series follows explorers on their trip on the Red Planet, among flying squids and beautifully geometric architectures. Among their visual creations, Kahn & Selesnick also included actual photos of Mars and studio installations they created ad hoc for the shots. To see more images, visit the project’s Tumblr website.
