popcorn the old-fashioned way: - start with a 1 quart size saucepan - pour enough canola oil on bottom just to cover it (or use olive oil, but doesn't taste as good) - pour in 1/4 cup popcorn kernels & shake pan to coat them with oil - turn on burner between medium & high - place lid on pan & shake constantly from side to side over heat - once the popping slows down to 2-3 seconds between pops, take pan off heat & ready to eat!
