One of the last flickers of brilliance before the Farnese's decline was the Teatro Farnese in Parma, started in 1618 and inaugurated during the 1628 wedding of Odoardo I to Margherita de' Medici. This maginificent baroque theater is historically important as the oldest one with a permanent procenium stage.
