Fort Worth Zoo yesterday announced the birth of the Zoo’s newest resident: a female Jaguar cub. The healthy cub, named Sasha, was born July 16, and will stay at Fort Worth Zoo for the next 12 to 18 months and then be moved to another zoo to help maintain genetic diversity within the species, as a part of the Jaguar Species Survival Program. As the young jaguars continue to grow, our staff is working hard to cub-proof their exhibit for their big debut. Our keepers are hoping to see a few additional signs of coordination and growth before introducing them to their exhibit, but we’re confident visitors will meet the trio this summer.
