For his pieces, he used discarded nuts, tubes, & bolts that he polished, varnished, & welded together to create robotlike bishops, knights, & rooks. Some sport blue balls for eyes; the pawns resemble tiny vacuums. The crowns adorning Claverie's kings and queens are assemblages
