(from an e-mail I received) keep berries fresh longer: mix 1 part vinegar (white or apple cider) & 10 parts water. Swirl berries in the mix. Drain, rinse if you want (though the mixture is so diluted you can't taste the vinegar,) and refridgerate. The vinegar kills any mold spores and other bacteria that might be on the surface of the fruit, and voila! Raspberries will last a week or more, and strawberries go almost two weeks without getting moldy and soft. You're so "berry" velcome!
To keep strawberries fresh longer in refrigerator, use 1 Part White or apple cider vinegar to 10 Parts Water. Soak the berries, leaves & all in the vinegar/water mixture for a few minutes. Drain berries in a colander until completely dry. Place berries in an uncovered bowl in refrigerator. The vinegar/water mixture kills any mold spores on the strawberries & keeps them fresh longer. The vinegar does not affect the taste. This works for all kinds of berries.
Lots of helpful tips - separate bananas to last longer, reheat pizza in a non-stick skillet, store cheese in foil, add tsp of water when browning hamburger, use wet cotton ball to pick up small glass shards, etc.
How to FREEZE AVACADOS!: Just cut the avocados in half and remove the seed. Wrap in saran wrap (a vacuum sealer is the best option if you have one) then place into a freezer safe container or bag. I’m not sure how long they will keep, but the post from Pink Sugar Bowl states that they last at least 3 months (she goes through her avocados rather quickly).
