Britain's best architectural follies
Alnwick, Northumberland - Brizlee Tower. Set atop a hill in Hulne Park, the tower was erected in 1781. A 26-metre-high elaborately ornamental tower in dressed stone was commissioned in about 1777 to commemorate the Duke's wife Lady Elizabeth Seymour, who died in 1776. Completed in 1781.
