The Frida Series, is a portrait series of Frida Kahlo. As in the original black and white photograph, the work shows a challenging, defiant and proud woman. In the Pop compositions Frida Kahlo is represented as both strong and scarred, in pop art inspired vivid colours.
"Gripped" is a mixed media composition on 120 x 120 cm canvas. The original composition is a raw ripped 2-element paper collage. This collage was mirrored, enlarged and then printed. The print is transferred to the canvas and finished with pastels and paint. Images are from vintage magazines; the hands are from a publicity for wrists watches. The portrait of a lonesome Marilyn is thoughtful and emotional. The mixture of these two images has a powerful impact.
The work is an enlargement of Two-elements brut collage on paper. In this collage all images are from authentic vintage magazines. The detail of Nathalie Nattier's portrait is from 'Films pour Tous', 1946. The original collage is mirrored, enlarged and printed, then transferred onto canvas and finished with oil paint and pastels. Torn paper is added to the composition, this paper is from French 'Illustration' Magazines dating 1914-1917.

Inspired by the literary fairy tale by Danish poet and author Hans Christian Andersen first published in Copenhagen in 1845. In the background we see the ruins of an abandoned church. It is a detail of a photo I took on my travels in 2019 of a destroyed church in Bihac, Bosnia . It is in this church that the red shoes took root.
Inspired by the story of the Brothers Grimm, the artist portrays Rosamund in Dornröschen. The Sleeping Beauty and the forest sleep as a unit pierced by a giant rose stem. The rose stem and a red petal cover the woman's face. The original portrait of the dancer Estelle Reed is by the Dutch photographer Paul Citroen, 1931.

'This is a Hold Up' / 2013 /Acrylic and paper collage on canvas 30 x 24 cm
At the basis of this work is the paper collage 'Splash 2' in which the background image is an illustration of Ralph Weiss' photo 'Capsule de pomme épineuse'. The bottom image is the lower half of George Silk's photography 'Jeune Plongeuse". This collage composition is superimposed to an image of a destroyed church wall in Bihac. Both images are transferred on canvas and finished with oil paint. Added to the composition is a vintage paper illustration; the upper part of the face of a young bride.
