Philanthropy
Since its creation in 1976, L’OCCITANE has been involved in the community. In 2006, L’OCCITANE created its Foundation to better carry out these initiatives. With an annual budget of about 1 million Euros, the L’OCCITANE Foundation has two main fields of action: the support of visually impaired people worldwide and the economic emancipation of women in Burkina Faso.

Every year, in March, L’OCCITANE sells in its stores a soap produced in co-development with the women of a craft soap factory in Burkina Faso. 100% of benefits are donated to the L’OCCITANE Foundation to support projects for the economic emancipation of women in this country. www.foundation.loccitane.com
Our actions
PORTRAIT OF A WOMAN: In the early 1980’s, Olivier BAUSSAN discovered the shea butter made by Burkinabe women in Burkina Faso and decided to use this ingredient to make L’OCCITANE products. This unique link with women of Burkina Faso has lasted over 30years. To go further and strengthen this partnership, the L’OCCITANE Foundation decided in 2006 to focus its action on the economic emancipation of the women in this country. [Copyright: Jean de la Tour]

WOMEN’S ENTREPRENEURSHIP PROJECTS: The L’OCCITANE Foundation supports the economic emancipation of women by supporting women’s entrepreneurship projects with microcredit and training programs. LITERACY: In Burkina Faso, only 28,7% of the population is literate. The L’OCCITANE Foundation supports the economic emancipation of women and has been working since 2009 with the NGO Aide et Action for the construction and the functioning of literacy centers for women in this country.
