This vintage poster is an example of “Affiche Artistic” meaning a poster with artistic expression. In the late 1800s artist would cover the streets of Paris in their posters. Used as a form of advertising they would aim to reach the masses through their art. The public was so impressed by the work that surrounded them that they would take the posters, which is why they are so rare today. http://www.vintageposters.us/vintage-poster/New-Acquisitions---2013/1900/EDEN---THEATRE---ROKNEDIN
