Human beings can be so closed minded to things that are not the "norm" of their own society or beliefs that it makes them blind to the whole picture. The bigger issue of denying everyone in society equal opportuities to be happy.

State and religion are meant and said to be seperate. However, this is not the case at all. People used to travel from other countries for the "American dream", which now seems almost impossible to achieve if you are anything other than a white male. No matter how much people stress that America is the land of the "free", this statement cannot be true until every single person living here has the same equal opportunities.

The issue of gay marriage is an issue that should not exsist in todays society. The minority has always had to fight for their rights in this world, but after how many minorities have fought and won, you would think that society would learn to accept people of all kinds.

It's a rude and ignorant statement when people classify being gay as a "disease". It amazes me that in today's "free" America people are still fighting for their right to be human! Does America always have to leave someone out? Then force them to fight for rights that they should already have? It's a sad thing when America, the place created for freedom, isn't free to everyone.

Get over it. That's a great way to put it in the simplest terms possible. Americans are allowed to have opinions, but since when do opinions need to be forced on others and dictate people's lives? Just because not everyone is the same doesn't imply that who they are is a terrible thing. It's just different. To each their own.

Same sex marriage is going to ruin the institution of marriage? However men or women that cheat on their wives don't? Being gay is not something that would destroy the institution of marriage. Many straight people get devorced and cheat and lie. Marriage isn't something that will be destroyed based on sexual preference, it will be destroyed by the people who chose to destroy it. Straight or gay, it doesn't matter.

Society denies things that they aren't accustom to. Based on what Iv'e learned about the socialogical imagination this is because it's not what certain people are culturally used to. They don't take into account that just because they aren't like that doesn't mean other can't be. Many other cultures do certain things that Americans wouldn't do. Does that make these things wrong? No, it makes them different. That's all.

“At some point in our lifetime, gay marriage won't be an issue, and everyone who stood against this civil right will look as outdated as George Wallace standing on the school steps keeping James Hood from entering the University of Alabama because he was black.” ― George Clooney

Everyone deserves a "happily ever after". No matter if they are gay or straight. Love is a beautiful thing that every human has the right to feel. Feelings aren't exactly something that can be controlled of changed. Every man, woman, and child is born with the right to feel and express their emotions. Marriage is one way that people who love each other express their love. When you deny someone the right to express their feelings it's denying their right to be human.

"I think everyone should be free to love who they want. There's not enough love in this world, so find love where you can. And if you find it, consider yourself lucky." -Why is it that in today's society there are STILL laws that keep homosexuals from having equal rights? Not only does this take away from their constitutional rights, it takes away their right to be human. Love is love, and it's something people can't help. So why take away their right to be human and love who they chose to?
