Originally created for the restoration of valuable Josef Hoffman benches, this fabric combines cotton with silk and linen to mimic the dry, finely ribbed texture of horsehair so beloved of antique dealers, with various threads of different hues adding further depth to the silk. The large chequered band was added to recreate motifs in the Wiener Werkstätte style.

Pineapples is based on a beautiful and intriguing antique Chinese embroidered silk coverlet. To re-imagine the pineapples, we have experimented with a variety of stitches and techniques such as fil coupés to retain the enchanting mood of the original. The abundance of detail is a tribute to the craft of jacquard with its dense interlacing of 160 fine threads.
