I've been looking to replace my ugly coffee table with something that can hold storage. After seeing what Drew Scott did with a trunk he found while thrifting, I was inspired. A DIY coffee table trunk was certainly in my future.

Refinishing this classic old steamer trunk took a lot of work. After stripping the old paper lining the interior, we stained and polyurethaned the wood to a beautiful finish. The green canvas exterior was in good shape. But the straps needed to be replaced with old belts. The exterior wood was stained and the exterior brass accents were painted with Gold Leaf Rub n’ Buff.
