Thread Holder pattern When I first showed a picture of my thread holder a number of people asked if I had a pattern. I made mine one morning at my stitching morning, it does not have a pattern so I thought I would show you how it is made. Firstly cut 4 strips 7 1/2 inches X 2 1/2 inches then 4 from a contrasting fabric. Lay them on your cutting board like this. Lay the next 4 right sides together as above. This step is important pick up the strips and put a pin in as above, then do the same…

two hands holding an object in their left hand

This is my new hand stitching companion...literally a THREAD CATCHER. When I am hand stitching, there are little tails of silk thread and snippets of quilting cotton EVERYWHERE...I know things are out of hand when Weasley the cat saunters by with thread and fabric snippets are stuck to his fur coat! And now, a view of the underside...(this is my favorite Kaffe Fassett fabric in my stash)... Do you want to learn to make one? Let me demonstrate the magic...first, I push DOWN with my thumbs on…

two small bins that are on top of a wooden table and one has some scissors in it

I think that I am on to something! I absolutely cannot keep my Thread Catchers in my Etsy Shop! They sell as soon as I post them with one this morning being snapped up eight whole minutes after posting. This crazy thing happened. A couple of my "pins" were picked up on Pinterest from my other blog , T. in the Burg, and my Etsy shop kind of blew up! I am getting thousands of blog hits per day and tons of interest and inquiries at my Etsy shop. Who knew that a little sewing accessory would…

a pair of scissors sitting inside of a bag on top of a wooden table next to a drawer

Can you bear yet another post about my Thread Catchers? I have been selling them like hotcakes over at my Etsy shop and have recently made this one that is kind of over-the-top pretty, or at least I think so. I used my Luna Notte scraps from my Hanging Basket quilt. I have lots of little odd bits left over and they were perfect for the paper-pieced pincushion. It is good sized, about four inches square and is filled with crushed walnut shells to give it a bit of heft. It is attached to the…

an origami star sitting on top of a table next to a green vase

Thank goodness I sometimes write myself notes--even better if I remember to read them! I turned my appointment book to December yesterday and had written a reminder to bring along a "favorite item" to exchange at the Stitching Society meeting this Thursday. ACK! It's easy to pick my favorite thing to do--stitching! One thing I can't do without while enjoying my favorite activity, is my little thread catcher. So, I guess it is one of my favorite things! I take it with me everywhere I do…
