Twiggy, nee Lesley Hornby, rides a Raleigh small-wheel bike through the 1967 London Ideal Home Exhibit. She was 17 at the time and had already launched Twiggy Enterprises to take the fashion world by storm. In 1971 she starred in The Boyfriend, with Ken Russell directing.

Based around Sandy Wilson’s musical stageplay of the same title, Russell’s extravagant production storms between delightful tackiness and exuberant fantasy in pastiche of 1920’s stage musical (after Wilson) and Busby Berkeley’s film musicals of the ’30’s.
