Real weddings

Hayley and Matias met in 2014 on Tinder of all places! "I think we both knew it was a done deal at the time, but we still took 5 years and 2 apartments to really get to know each other before getting engaged during a trip to Italy in 2019. We both lived in Brooklyn for about 11 years (and throughout our entire relationship), until a new job offer brought us to Oakland, CA in May 2021. We basically moved cross-country and then had two months to plan a wedding that was going to be back in NY!"

Blair and Chris both agreed early on that they wanted to be intentional about the traditions they stuck to. "We only wanted to do things that felt meaningful to us. We didn't want to get too caught up in tradition, while not abandoning it either! For the overall feel of the wedding, we were very inspired by 'old Florida' and wanted to give the event a timeless feel."

Az Cohen and Valentina Van de Weghe were on winter vacation in St. Barth’s when a mutual family friend insisted they meet. The day before Valentina was set to leave, they really hit it off. He accompanied her to the airport, and just before she boarded a plane for Belgium, they kissed. “That was it,” she remembers. “We didn’t see each other for a month, but we talked every day. Once I was back in the city, we were inseparable.”

At the top of Lorena and Spencer's list when planning their wedding, was that it was unique to them. "We did away with the traditional things we’ve seen like bridal parties, first dance, plated dinner and cake cutting. Our focus was experience through food, drinks and music. We wanted our wedding to be dialled in but understated. We really paid close attention to every song that was played from beginning to end, we chose food that our guests would love and kept speeches to a minimum.

Haley and Tristan had their wedding in Malibu. "We always envisioned having a destination wedding, of sorts. We originally looked at going abroad, but ultimately wanted our family members to attend without the stress of an overseas flight. Our family is from all over the US so we didn’t feel tied to a specific state. We knew we wanted it completely outside and somewhere with an amazing view!"

Hannah and Sebastian are both a mix of low-key and obsessively detail-oriented. "Our backyard was the perfect casual setting where we could make decisions outside of the constraints that a typical venue might have. Looking back, we had no idea the amount of work it would take to get it where we wanted it (9 months!)- but it definitely made enjoying the end result so much sweeter."

Sophie and Rohan had a fuss-free and relaxed celebration with 29 guests in Sydney. "We weren’t interested in a lot of the traditional wedding elements. We wanted to keep it low fuss, as we’re both busy with work and study and didn’t have the time to devote to complicated wedding arrangements!"
