Initially, the project was envisioned as a small fountain featuring Greek architectural motifs. However, it gradually evolved into a well, rich with details, a captivating setting, and even a narrative. The scene draws inspiration from a blend of ancient architecture, magic, and nature. Perhaps, many years ago, a grand temple dedicated to the gods of Olympus stood here, or maybe it was part of ancient baths. Each viewer is invited to interpret the story this work tells in their own way.

My entry to the January Low Poly Game Level challenge. Surrounded by ruins and secrets of old, the Forgotten Sands is an open-ended level with focus on exploration. The scene uses Sketchfab’s lighting, post-fx and raw materials to achieve the visuals. No texture maps or vertex shading were used. The idea is to show what Sketchfab’s engine can achieve by itself. These are some examples of the ruins asset system my colleague and I used for our bachelor's thesis. We had about three months for the project, so our goal was to achieve as much variation as possible with a pretty small amount of assets. I modelled about 20 ruin components and variations of some of them in different stages of decay. Textures were done by my colleague Marvin Gerland. The video below shows a little setup animation of the three buildings.

This is one of my "play around in Blender and learn" projects. It started out as a sketch of "what if Skyrim is made into FFTA", and instead of painting the sketch up I decided to take this a bit further. I reinforced my learnings in lowpoly modeling and hand-painted textures, while also learned how to set up alpha textures, create particles, and hack together frame animations in this scene.
